The price of dental veneers in Thailand

With this post, I want to take a look at the price of dental veneers in major cities in Thailand – Bangkok, Phuket, Pattaya and Chiang Mai. The cost of porcelain veneers in Thailand by Smile Planners participating dentists is from 9,000 to 15,000 Thai Baht per porcelain veneer.

Dental Veneers in Bangkok

*For Ceramic (Porcelain) veneers. Price is for regular, non-promotion cost per tooth.

Promjai – 12,000 to 16,000 Thai Baht

BIDC – 10,000 Thai Baht to 12,000 Thai Baht

BSDG – 11,000 Thai Baht

Dental Veneers in Phuket

Dental Home – 10,000 Thai Baht

BSDG – 11,000 Thai Baht

Promjai – 12,000 to 16,000 Thai Baht

Dental Veneers in Pattaya

Dentist Beach – 9,000 Thai Baht

Dental Veneers in Chiang Mai

Dental 4 You – 10,000 Thai Baht

Grace – 10,000 t0 12,000 Thai Baht

The range in Thailand is between 9,000 and 16,000 Thai Baht. The price can vary depending on the quality of materials and the training of the cosmetic dentists. The higher prices are generally from Thailand’s internationally-trained cosmetic dentists.

Smile Planners works with Thai trained cosmetic dentists from the country’s top dental schools with master’s level training as well as Thai dentists who studied cosmetic dentistry internationally – in particular in the USA. The specialist price is 10,000 Thai Baht per porcelain veneer and senior specialist (USA-trained) price is 15,000 Thai Baht per porcelain veneer.

From our experience working with Thai cosmetic dentists, we know that the dentists will need to see teeth pictures in order to create a recommendation and quote for dental veneers. The pictures need to be clear, closeup and show as much teeth and gum as possible. There should be 2 sets of pictures taken from the front and right and left sides. One set with teeth apart and the other set with teeth together. The pictures can be taken with a regular digital camera, Iphone, or other mobile phone camera – the main thing is that the pictures are clear. The pictures are easy to email. Unfortunately, without the teeth pictures dentists in Thailand will not be able to provide a quote.

Full smile reconstruction with dental implants and new teeth is as for people who are unhappy wearing dentures or people who are faced with the prospect of having to wear a denture. With dental implants and new teeth the implant dentist places dental implants in the jaw, a full set of new teeth is then permanently attached to the dental implants. Once in place the implant supported teeth will not slip, drop or move. The new teeth will look and function like a full set of permanent teeth. There is never a need for denture creams with implant supported teeth since they are permanently attached to the dental implants.

The new teeth are attached to the dental implants with special tools and techniques by the implant dentist. Once in place, only a trained implant dentist can remove the teeth.

Dental Implants and new teeth in Thailand cost up to 50 to 60 percent less than in the USA or Australia. According to published prices All on 4™ Implants can cost up to $25,000 per arch in the USA and Australia.

All on 4™ Implants technique uses 4 dental implants to support the new teeth. In some cases the implant dentist may recommend additional implants for maximum stability of the new teeth.

Dental Implant Osseointegration is a process in which jaw bone attaches directly to dental implants made of titanium, ceramic or polymeric material. After the dental implant is placed in the jaw, the bone grows up to and around the dental implant during the healing phase of dental implant treatment. The healing phase lasts up to 6 months depending on the dental implant system used. After the osseointegration period, the surface of the implant and the surface of the surrounding bone fuse together. The process can be compared to the mending of broken bones. Once a broken bone is set, over time it heals back together. Once a broken bone is set, over time it heals back together. The same kind of process is happening in dental implant osseintegartion, but instead of bone fusing to bone, bone is fusing to the implant.

Osseointegration and Dentistry

Dental Implants are now the most effective way to replace a missing tooth or a set of teeth. An Implant Dentist can replace a single tooth with a single dental implant, implant abutment and crown or restore a complete set of teeth with 4-6 dental implants and a full bridge attached to the dental implants, commonly referred to as All-on-6 or All-on-4 ™ dental implants.

A Little History on Osseointegration

Dental implants are arguably the biggest breakthrough to date in dentistry – but dental implants as we know them today were made possible through a discovery by Dr. Per-Ingvar Brånemark, an Swedish orthopedic surgeon in 1952.

Before dental implants, there was something called osseointegration, and without it, dental implants would not be possible. In 1952 Brånemark was conducting experiments using titanium metal implants in bone. At the end of the experiments, as Brånemark was attempting to remove the implants, he discovered that the titanium had integrated with the bone and it was difficult to separate the dental implant from the surrounding bone. For Brånemark this was an ‘Ah-ha’ moment.

Brånemark realized that if titanium fused to bone made the implants impossible to remove then implants could be placed in the jaw, in the form of dental implants, to support replacement teeth and other dental prosthesis. Brånemark placed the first titanium dental implants in a patient in 1965. That first dental implant patient, Gosta Larrson, had the dental implant for over 40 years.

Dispite Brånemark’s osseointegration discovery and successful dental implant placement in Larrson in 1965, it was not until 1983 at a conference in Toronto, Canada that osseointegration became internationally accepted.

Dental Implants Today

According to marketsandmarkets.com in their report, Global Dental Implants Market (2010 -2015), the global dental implant market with be worth an estimated $4.4 Billion by 2015. This is due to the acceptance of dental implants as an effective way to treat a single missing tooth or edentulism (cases where a person has no teeth and restoration of all missing teeth with dental implants and full dental bridges is possible and cost effective).

The cost of full dental implants in Thailand, for example, with 4 dental implants and permanent bridge (All-on-4 tm) or 6 dental implants and permanent bridge (All-on-6) is 350,000 Thai Baht ($11,175 AUD/ $11,335 USD / £7,205 GBP) per arch to 450,000 Thai Baht ($14,365 AUD/ $14,575 USD / £9,265 GBP) per arch respectively.

The cost of a single immediate dental implant in Thailand is 75,000 Thai Baht ($2,395 AUD/ $2,429 USD / £1,544 GBP).

Osseointegration is a biological process that takes place once the dental implant is placed in the jaw, it is not a treatment per se, so there is no additional dental treatment costs assiciated with Osseointegration.

Prices above are based on the current currency exchange on October 15, 2011.

The cost of 4 dental implants plus a permanent bridge (full set of new teeth) for one arch (upper or lower) is 350,000 Thai Baht. At the time of this post, that is around $11,000 AUD, $11,650 USD, or 8,190 Euro.

The cost of full mouth reconstruction (rehabilitation) with 4 dental implants and bridge on the upper arch and another 4 dental implants plus bridge on the lower arch is 700,000 Thai Baht. That is around $22,000 AUD, $23,300 USD, 16,380 Euro.

If tooth extractions are required, the extractions and dental implants can be completed in the same trip. The cost of extractions depends on the size and location of the tooth, but on average an extraction costs 1,200 Thai Baht per tooth. That’s around $40.

About the treatment

Dental Implants Thailand

For decades, dentures were the only option for people missing all their teeth. But over the years more and more implant dentists have been placing dental implants in the jaw and then attaching a permanent full bridge to the implants with special dental implant tools. The dental implant is made of titanium and works a lot like a person’s natural tooth root. Like a natural tooth root keeps a natural tooth firmly in place, the titanium dental implant keep a dental bridge firmly in place. Titanium also has a special quality that makes it a great material for dental implants. Titanium attaches directly to the jaw bone in a process called Osseointegration, meaning the titanium implant sticks to the bone almost like being cemented to the jawbone, but through the Osseointegration process.

The Osseointegration of the dental implant to the jawbone makes the dental implant incredibly stable. Once the dental implants are in place, the implant dentist then attaches the permanent bridge (set of new teeth) to the 4 dental implants with specially designed dental implant tools and screws. Once the dental implant specialist bolts the dental bridge into place only a dental implant specialist with special tools can remove it. Now firmly in place you can live a more active lifestyle, eat many of the foods you’ve been missing, and smile with confidence. You take care of your new implant teeth like you would your own natural teeth too with brushing.

About the All-on-4™ Technique

All-on-4 Implants and Bridge

The All-on-4 Technique was developed in Europe. It uses specially designed tilting dental implants. The specially designed dental implants allow to the implant dentist to complete the treatment much faster than with conventional dental implant systems reducing the full mouth rehabilitation to 10 days instead of 6 months normally required with other dental implant techniques. In addition to a complete new smile in 10 days, the All-on-4™ Technique also allows the implant dentist to place the implants without the need for time-consuming and costly sinus grafting procedures.
